Ernst & Young Flips Olympic Freestyle Fever into High Gear

Firm Partners with Canadian National Freestyle Ski Team on Quest For Gold

TORONTO, Jan. 10 /CNW/ - The countdown to 2010 is on and professional
services firm Ernst & Young is pledging major support to help the Canadian
National Freestyle Ski Team grab big air, land phenomenal jumps, and score
serious gold at the Olympic Winter Games.
"We are thrilled to support this outstanding team and its drive to be the
best in an exciting and dynamic sport," said Lou Pagnutti, Chairman and CEO of
Ernst & Young Canada. "These incredible athletes should know we will be with
them for every jump, twist and turn they take. Teaming is a huge part of who
we are at Ernst & Young. We put a lot of effort into helping our own teams
achieve great things each day. That's why I'm so excited that we're sponsoring
the Canadian Freestyle Ski Team as they work together to meet their own
goals."
Ernst & Young has signed a four-year sponsorship agreement to support the
team. The firm is the sole presenting sponsor of the Canada Post Freestyle
Grand Prix World Cup competitions in Canada. Partners and staff are already
volunteering to help bring these events to life.
"We will be working very closely with the team to help them succeed, both
on and off the hill," Pagnutti explained. "Canada's team is number one in the
world, with more medals than any other team in the sport's history. That's
something everyone in this country can truly be proud of."
Like Ernst & Young, the team is focused on "going for gold." Its mission
is to develop Olympic and world champions in all freestyle disciplines and
become one of Canada's best-known sports teams.
"It is extremely gratifying to have a firm like Ernst & Young sponsor
International Ski Federation (FIS) World Cup events and athletes," said Peter
Judge, CEO of the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association. "Without this kind of
support we would not be able to stage international events in Canada, and our
athletes would find it harder to perform at their best. The enthusiasm we have
experienced from everyone at Ernst & Young has been extraordinary."
This year, World Cup competitions will be held at Ski Mont Gabriel,
Quebec (January 25-27, 2008) and at Cypress Mountain, British Columbia
(February 8-10, 2008).
