Silver Lining Gala in Toronto tonight features Sarah Harmer,
Don Ferguson, Albert Schultz, Duncan Davies Trio
TORONTO, May 14 /CNW/ - Supporters from across the Greater Toronto Area
are gathering at the Fermenting Cellar in the Distillery District tonight to
celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Environmental Defence, one of Canada's
leading national environmental groups.
Guests at the Silver Lining Gala will be treated to a special performance
by Sarah Harmer, a long-time supporter of Environmental Defence. Hosted by the
Air Farce's Don Ferguson, the evening promises to be a lively walk down memory
lane. Albert Schultz, the founding Artistic Director of the Soulpepper Theatre
Company, will lead guests through a live auction, featuring a guitar signed by
Sarah Harmer, an original lithograph by Robert Bateman, an Edward Burtynsky
photograph and a luxurious weekend stay in New York City.
"We're so pleased to be marking 25 years of protecting the environment
and human health. We have a lot to celebrate. From protecting Canadians from
harmful chemicals in consumer products, to demanding federal action to clean
up the tar sands, Environmental Defence is helping to create an environmental
legacy our children and grandchildren can be proud of," said Dr. Rick Smith,
Executive Director, Environmental Defence.
After a three-course meal prepared by Jamie Kennedy, the evening will
close with a cocktail reception where old friends can catch up and new
friendships can start while being entertained by the Duncan Davies Trio.
All proceeds from the event will support the work of Environmental
