EnGlobe Opens Second Soil Treatment Facility in the United Kingdom

BURLINGTON, ON, Oct. 10 /CNW/ - EnGlobe Corp. (TSX: EG), Canada's leading
integrated environmental services company, announced today that its second
soil treatment facility (STF) in the United Kingdom began operations on
October 9, 2007.
Located in Colnbrook, west of London, the plant will treat up to
50,000 metric tons of contaminated soil per year and is the only STF licensed
to accept hazardous soil in the most attractive geographical market in the
United Kingdom. The 1.5-hectare facility has received all necessary regulatory
permits to operate until 2010.
The new STF is the second UK facility for EnGlobe's subsidiary Biogénie
Site Remediation Ltd., in partnership with Biffa Waste Services, and comes
18 months after the successful launch of the Risley STF near Manchester in the
north-west of England. Like the Risley STF, Biogénie is providing its
proprietary treatment technology and operating management while Biffa provides
market presence, regulatory compliance expertise, site location, and placement
options for the treated soil. Capital costs and income from the new facility
are shared equally between the two partners.
There is growing need for the unique services that the new facility can
provide locally. With national targets for house building now at 200,000 homes
per year and a drive to reuse previously developed land, the market demand,
particularly in the South East, is very strong. Biogénie's proprietary
technology degrades contaminants to acceptable levels that allow soil to be
beneficially reused as daily cover material within landfills or as restoration
soil.
Biogénie and Biffa introduced the new Colnbrook facility to prospective
clients and local authorities over two days on October 9th and 10th. The event
was attended by 100 guests who received a close-up view of the STF's process
and technology as well as a demonstration of environmental and economic
benefits.
"This is an important step forward for Biogénie, EnGlobe and our
shareholders," said Tony Busseri, President and Chief Executive Officer of
EnGlobe Corp. "We have an excellent partner in Biffa and, with this new
facility, we are the dominant provider of critical soil-remediation services
in a rapidly growing market. EnGlobe is continuing to build on its ability to
create value for our shareholders."
