Enbridge Energizes West Park Healthcare Centre with $250,000 Commitment to Patient Safety Priorities

Total support to West Park tops $1 million

TORONTO, May 5 /CNW/ - Enbridge has made a significant investment of
$250,000 in West Park Healthcare Centre's Electronic Patient Record
initiative. This commitment to advancing excellence in healthcare through
Information Management will not only improve safety for each of the patients
the Centre serves but also will help drive cost savings and increased
efficiencies across Ontario's healthcare system.
West Park's multi-year, multi-million dollar investment to develop and
implement an Electronic Patient Record demonstrates the Centre's commitment to
providing the safest care through improved time to treatment and improved
access to vital patient information such as medication records.
"We are extremely grateful for the support of Enbridge, one of our
longest standing corporate partners. Their investment and active involvement
spanning nearly three decades has been instrumental in West Park Healthcare
Centre's ability to deliver innovative rehabilitation healthcare, helping
patients on the road to recovery," says Anne-Marie Malek, President and CEO of
West Park.
On May 5, 2009, Pat Daniel, President and CEO, Enbridge Inc. will join
Janet Holder, President, Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc. to present a cheque
for $250,000, representing Enbridge's latest commitment to West Park
Healthcare Centre's Foundation. Since 1981, Enbridge and its employees have
contributed in excess of $1 million to West Park's programs, services and
capital projects, including the construction of the Long-Term Care Centre.
Supporting West Park is consistent with Enbridge's commitment to building
sustainable communities by supporting programs in health and safety,
education, environment, culture and community leadership. Enbridge and its
employees deliver on this commitment through financial donations, sponsorships
and volunteering time to assist organizations like West Park in achieving
their goals.
"Enbridge is proud to support the exceptional work being done at West
Park Healthcare Centre," said Ms. Holder, who is also the Scarlett Ball Gala
Chair. "The Centre makes a daily and lasting contribution by supporting people
in our community when they need it most. The organization's emphasis on
quality of care as well as quality of life reaches beyond traditional health
care and enriches the lives of patients and their families."

West Park Healthcare Centre provides specialized rehabilitation, complex
continuing care and long term care services, helping people overcome their
health barriers to live the fullest lives possible after the onset of an
illness or injury. The Centre is also recognized internationally for its
expertise and research in respiratory medicine, particularly for its care for
