Employers and students in Quebec see results from Canada Summer Jobs

    SAINT-HYACINTHE, QC, June 5 /CNW Telbec/ - Students and employers alike
in Saint-Hyacinthe will benefit from $6,579 in funding going to the Maison des
jeunes de Saint-Hyacinthe under the Canada Summer Jobs initiative. The
Honourable Christian Paradis, Secretary of State for Agriculture and Member of
Parliament for Mégantic-L'Erable, made the announcement today on behalf of the
Honourable Monte Solberg, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development.
Funding of $21 million is being shared among not-for-profit groups across the
province.
"Canada's New Government is committed to helping young people acquire the
skills, knowledge and experience they need to prepare for their future,"
Mr. Paradis said. "Canada Summer Jobs is helping tens of thousands of students
who need it the most get high-quality, career-related summer job experience."
Canada Summer Jobs is focused on encouraging not-for-profit, public
sector, and smaller private sector employers with 50 or fewer employees to
create jobs that not only meet their needs, but benefit young people who need
jobs the most. Many of the jobs being funded are 40-50 percent longer in
duration, provide employment to students who face barriers to finding jobs,
and give them an opportunity to gain experience they might not otherwise get.
