HALIFAX, Jan. 25 /CNW/ - EFE MUSIC GROUP/Eirinn Fraser of EFE has been
nominated for her first ECMA, Industry Professional of the Year. "This comes
with great excitement! We are presently working on a network of .com and .mobi
digital media stores and have been building on our new DMDS department. The
recent MNS nominations (Manager of the Year, Promoter of the Year, and
Industry Professional 2007) and this ECMA nomination, tells me we're heading
in the right direction." Eirinn started the company out of a passion for music
and for the artists that surround her and she states her objective never
strayed. "There is an immense amount of talent in Canada. The key is to figure
out what is the best way to share their music to the world."
Nova Scotia's, The Contact, are nominated for 2008 ECMA, Sirius Satellite
Radio Rock Recording of the Year. The band has been preparing their music and
perfecting their sound for years, never questioning hard work, perseverance,
and belief in their music. "We just want to keep breaking the boundaries of
what we are as a band and push ourselves to the limit." They've been touring
for several years across North America, building a devoted fan base, all while
living modestly and saving profits to make "The Canvas Tears" (Independent).
They assembled a remarkable team; Grammy award winning producer, Quinlan,
mixing by Chuck Zwicky (Prince, Chantel Kreviazuk, Soul Asylum), graphics by
Invisible Creature (Coldplay, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Good Charlotte), mastered
by Dave Collins (The Police, Bruce Springsteen, Soundgarden), engineering by
Lil Thomas and recording at The Sonic Temple and The Fiction Room. This CD and
the band have been stirring up attention in the UK and in the US following
their release and 07 tour of 14 states. In November they were acknowledged by
MNS with two award nominations; Pop/Rock Artist/Recording and Group/Recording
of the Year. www.thecontactmusic.com
Jamie Sparks receives three 2008 ECMA nominations; Urban Single Track
Recording of the Year for "If You Were," Male Solo Recording of the Year, and
African Canadian Recording of the Year for his 2007 CD, "It's The Music." From
front to finish it is a remarkable project that is garnishing attention and
has earned him a 2007 ECMA, Urban Single Recording of the Year for "Gonna Get
Down." It is a work of art that will make you dance to the beats and give you
rhythms to make love to and release all tensions. Jamie has a way with words.
"It's The Music" has been built with the complexity of a puzzle and for the
sheer enjoyment of the listeners. His passion pours through his words and his
wisdom of the nature of love can only be assumed by his assimilation of the
lyrics of love and life. Jamie is presently working on composures for
television and movie placement, and has plans for a summer tour.
