Office (ATO) has extended its original US $1.8 billion outsourcing contract
with EDS for another two years. The total contract value of the extension was
Under the agreement EDS will continue to deliver information and
communication technology (ICT) infrastructure services to the ATO until 2010.
Current services include managing the ATO's computer mainframe and server
environment and data storage and communications network and providing
workplace and customer relationship management services.
EDS Australia managing director Chris Mitchell said the extension was a
significant endorsement of the strong business relationship developed between
EDS and the ATO since 1999.
"This is the third extension of our initial contract which only provided
for two renewals, so this is a significant vote of confidence," Mr. Mitchell
The ATO announced today that it will continue outsourcing its ICT
requirements after 2010 under a new strategy delivered in three tranches.
"This new approach to ICT procurement will provide further opportunities
for EDS and reinforces the ATO's belief in outsourcing," said Mr. Mitchell.
