Economic Forum Explores the Economic Climate for Women Entrepreneurs

TORONTO, March 24 /CNW/ - Women Entrepreneurs of Canada, along with
STAPLES Business Depot will present an economic forum that discusses what the
year ahead will bring for Canadian women business owners.
Adrienne Warren, Senior Economist and Manager with Scotiabank, has
analyzed and written about trends in the Canadian and U.S. economies for over
ten years. As editor of the widely circulated 'Weekly Trends,' Ms. Warren will
provide a round up of economic, industry and financial developments from
around the world.
"For the past three years, WEC has held an economic forum to explore what
the year holds for business - particularly those owned by women," says Ruth
Bastedo, President of WEC. "A strong dollar, weakening U.S. economy and other
global forces will make this year's forum particularly interesting for women
entrepreneurs."
The forum is co-presented by STAPLES Business Depot, which partnered with
WEC and research partner, Dr. Barbara Orser and the Telfer School of
Management, to learn more about how women entrepreneurs can overcome the
barriers to growth.
"Studies show the number of women small business owners with employees
rose an impressive 40 per cent over the past 15 years," says Lori Ross, Vice
President of Marketing with STAPLES/Business Depot. "At Staples, we believe in
supporting activities that encourage even more women to grow their
businesses."

Media are welcome to attend. Interviews and photo opportunities can be
    arranged.
