TORONTO, Sept. 28 /CNW/ - eBay Inc. (NASDAQ: EBAY; www.ebay.com) today
announced the appointment of Andrew Sloss to the position of interim Country
Manager for eBay Canada (www.ebay.ca).
Currently in his sixth year with the organization, Andrew was most
recently head of marketing for eBay Canada, overseeing the company's marketing
strategy and execution within Canada. In 2006, Andrew played an instrumental
role in the successful launch of eBay.ca in French.
Sloss assumes the role from Jordan Banks, who leaves after a successful
seven-year career at eBay to pursue another opportunity.
As interim Country Manager, Sloss becomes eBay's senior executive in
Canada, assuming overall responsibility for all of eBay Canada's operations,
including marketing, finance, business analytics and building and supporting
eBay's community of users in Canada.
A native of New Dundee, Ontario, Sloss studied Systems Design Engineering
at the University of Waterloo, and earned an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate
School of Management. Prior to joining eBay Canada in 2002, he spent five
years at Bain & Company in Toronto and Chicago. He will continue to be based
in Toronto, Ontario.
Sloss's favourite eBay transaction was his first: the sale of a Hi-8
camcorder to a buyer in Seattle. He sold it for more than twice the price he
had anticipated, and has been an eBay enthusiast ever since.
