CALGARY, July 16 /CNW/ - EarthFirst Canada Inc. ("EarthFirst") (TSX: EF,
EF.WT) announced today that the Government of Nova Scotia has approved an
Environmental Assessment for the Corporation's 45 MW Nuttby Mountain wind
project, located in Colchester County.
Receiving the provincial permit is a significant milestone in
EarthFirst's plans to move forward with this project. The timing of the
approval is consistent with the development schedule for the project, with
completed installation of the turbines currently planned for the end of 2009.
The Company has in place a signed Power Purchase Agreement and a completed
interconnection feasibility study from Nova Scotia Power Inc. The next steps,
prior to entering a construction phase, include finalizing turbine purchase
arrangements, awaiting environmental approval from the Federal Government of
Canada and any municipal permits which may be required.

EarthFirst is a leading Canadian developer of wind energy projects with a
portfolio of over 2,500 MW of potential renewable generating capacity. This
includes the Company's 144 MW Dokie I project in British Columbia which has
commenced construction and is due to be completed in 2009. An additional
226 MW of fully permitted projects that are expected to be tendered into the
recently announced BC Clean Power Call. Common Shares and Warrants of
EarthFirst Canada Inc. are listed on the TSX under the symbol EF and EF.WT,
