CALGARY, June 12 /CNW/ - EarthFirst Canada Inc. ("EarthFirst") (TSX: EF,
EF.WT) is pleased that BC Hydro yesterday announced the terms of its Clean
Power Call. EarthFirst anticipates submitting bids into the BC Clean Power
Call in respect of its two fully permitted Peace Region wind energy projects;
the Dokie Expansion of up to 156 MW and the Wartenbe project of up to 70.5 MW.
The Dokie Expansion and Wartenbe projects received Environmental Assessment
Certificates from the British Columbia Environmental Assessment Office in
August and October 2006 respectively, and have also been issued Licence of
Occupation tenures to the project Crown land by the Government of British
In addition to the fully permitted Dokie Expansion and Wartenbe projects,
the corporation is evaluating potentially submitting other wind energy
projects from its BC pipeline into the Clean Power Call as BC Hydro has
indicated it will consider proposals of potential longer lead time projects
with commercial operation dates as far out as 2016.
According to the schedule released by BC Hydro, proposals are to be
submitted by November 25, 2008, with Electricity Purchase Agreements to be
awarded mid-April through June, 2009.
