2010 marks 35 Years of successful business for Duocom Canada Inc.
This year Duocom Canada Inc. will mark its 35th anniversary with several celebratory events through out the coming year.
Established in 1974 by Ross Fairholm, Duocom has evolved into a leader in the Audio-Visual business in Canada. Fairholm started Duocom out of his home with three employees eventually growing the ranks to over 200 employees; including his three sons, in three separate divisions. He's grown his company by keeping pace with new technological advances in the industry offering clients innovative and professional solutions and by promoting ongoing education and training for his staff to ensure clients work with highly skilled representatives.
"In 1974 when I left my management position with 3M to start this company I knew it was risky... it was a brand new market. I was sure I was onto something good. I started with photocopiers and in 1988 I moved into audio-visual equipment. It's been a journey and 35 years later we've become a leader in the audio-visual industry. We're very proud of what we have accomplished" Says Ross Fairholm, President of Duocom Canada.
Using that same entrepreneurial spirit he's led Duocom to become a top innovative leading edge audio-visual integration and event solution company with clients all over Canada and the US. It's Fairholm's knack for spotting trends and shaping his business to capitalize on new ideas and modernizations that has kept Duocom ahead of the pack and expanding in diverse economies.
That same keen insight brought about the addition of Margaret Hachey who joined the ownership team in the early 80's. Hachey's leadership was instrumental in developing the lucrative Toronto market. She continues to be a strategic contributor for the firm.
Today with over 40 million in sales annually and 3500 corporate projects a year, Duocom's focus is on the lasted technologies, from HD projections, control systems, high end audio systems, video conferencing, LED projections and digital signage.
Most recently Duocom moved into the home automation market with a unique 4,000 square ft. showroom; La Galerie, at its headquarters in Montreal and as of February 1st opened an additional 1,000 square ft of showroom in Deco centre LaSalle, a fresh retail concept catering to discerning customers shopping for the best in home services and design.
So what's next for this family owned and operated business? The Fairholm team has been closely monitoring and evaluating future opportunities in online collaboration tools like Smart boards, Windows 7 and its touch screen applications, the movement towards Green and LED technology- carbon foot printing and its automation, the possibilities for 3D in audio-visual equipment and new LED-Laser projection.
"It's exciting times for Duocom, says Fairholm, my sons and I look forward to exceeding the challenges of today's highly developed technology market and to staying ahead of our competitors. It's an exhilarating industry and I'm excited to see where the next 35 years takes us."
