Dr. Piyush Patel takes top honours as Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year(R) 2008 for Ontario

TORONTO, Oct. 17 /CNW/ - A true leader in clinical research, Dr. Piyush
Patel of Allied Research International - Cetero Research Inc. is Ontario's
Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2008 Award recipient.
"Dr. Patel develops and drives exciting new ways of studying and
researching human health," said Dan Cornacchia, National and Ontario Director
of the Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards program. "By consistently pushing
himself to help improve clinical research here in Canada, and around the
world, Dr. Patel has built his organization into a global leader in scientific
excellence."
Dr. Patel co-founded Allied Research International (ARI) in 1989 based on
his work as a principal investigator in allergy and asthma clinical research.
By consistently pushing forward to develop new ways of conducting research,
Dr. Patel has grown the organization into a leading provider of early-stage,
bionanalytical and niche late-stage clinical research services to the life
sciences industry. He has refined existing clinical models of allergy research
to establish new ways of studying these areas. In 2006, ARI expanded to the
U.S. with a major research unit in Miami. In 2007, Cetero Research acquired
ARI, making it part of a wider family of clinical and bioanalytical research
specialists. Dr. Patel continues to serve as CEO and Principal Scientist. Last
night, Dr. Patel also won the health services and sciences category award.
In addition, Ted Rogers was recognized at yesterday's gala as the Ernst &
