Dignitaries Officially Open HRSA International Hospitality Trade Show at Place Bonaventure in Montreal

MONTREAL, Feb. 8 /CNW Telbec/ - This morning, honorary president
Philomena Rotoroti, parliamentary assistant to Quebec's Minister of Tourism
officially opened the 2009 Salon Rendez-vous HRI at Place Bonaventure in
Montreal along with distinguished guests Alan DeSousa, City of Montreal
Executive Committee member responsible for economic development; Howard
Bowles, the new president of the Hotel and Restaurant Suppliers Association's
board of directors; Victor Francoeur, president and CEO of the association and
numerous guests, exhibitors and visitors.
The Hotel of Tomorrow, a two-storey 10,000 square foot conceptual
structure built in association with several major collaborators (see list in
appendix), was the stage for the opening ceremony of the 2009 Salon
Rendez-vous HRI where officials revealed the event's programming for the
February 8 to 10 show.
Mrs. Rotiroti was pleased to join Minister of Tourism, Nicole Ménard, in
marking this major event for the hospitality industry, which recognizes the
efforts of suppliers, most notably in terms of developing trade and new
trends, the whole despite challenging economic conditions. Mrs. Rotiroti was
impressed with the level of participation displayed by the event's visitors
and exhibitors.
As for Mr. Alan DeSousa, he reiterated how important this annual event
and the activities generated by the association are to the City of Montreal,
and how valuable their support is to the hospitality industry, especially for
its members and suppliers.
Mr. Howard Bowles, president of the board of directors, emphasize d the
significance of such an event for HRSA, more specifically of the scope of this
gathering, where the industry's strength and energy is proudly displayed along
with its products and services. "Our actions promote the development of a
dynamic industry, which is characterized by a high level of competitiveness
and creativity. More than ever, especially with the prevailing economic
conditions, we need to get together and join forces to create business
opportunities, to move forward and exit these conditions in a stronger
position."
And finally, the association's president and CEO, Mr. Francoeur,
emphasized the importance of this major Canadian event for all HRI suppliers.
"It's important to note that this event brings together suppliers and
distributors from all over Canada and even a few from the USA. Consequently,
it provides a platform for establishing and consolidating relationships
between suppliers and customers while also generating positive economic
ramifications that benefit the hospitality industry as a whole." "We cannot
allow despair and dejection to gain any more ground, especially in view of the
current context, which is certainly difficult. However, we can't give in to
pessimists and let them carry on with such a false belief, where they are
convinced that individual actions, despite their best efforts, will have no
impact in today's turmoil. We may have to change our processes, review our
operational costs, be more attentive to the needs of our respective client
bases...but certainly not throw in the towel!" According to Mr. Francoeur, the
2009 Salon Rendez-vous HRI is essential in delivering support to all industry
visitors and exhibitors.
Following the opening ceremony, distinguished guests, suppliers and
visitors toured the site and visited several kiosks among the 400 present and
took the time to chat as they meandered through the exhibition hall.
