Desjardins donates $200,000 to help flood victims in Rivière-au-Renard and Cortéréal

In addition, the Québec Desjardins caisse network will be collecting
    donations from the population

    RIVIERE-AU-RENARD, QC, Sept. 18 /CNW Telbec/ - As a token of solidarity
towards the community, Desjardins Group, the largest financial institution in
Québec, has donated $200,000 to help flood victims in Rivière-au-Renard and
Cortéréal in Gaspésie.
Furthermore, from September 18 to October 5, Desjardins will be
collecting donations from the population in its 1,262 caisses and service
centres throughout Québec. Desjardins members may also choose to make
donations through www.desjardins.com/gaspesie.
"Once again, Desjardins has demonstrated that it is money that works for
people and not the other way around, stated Alban D'Amours, President and
Chief Executive Officer of Desjardins Group. Our cooperative values keep
guiding our actions and Desjardins remains supportive of Québec communities. I
am convinced that the Québec population will be generous towards the victims."
Norman Grant, President of the Council of Representatives for Bas
Saint-Laurent-Gaspésie-Iles-de-la-Madeleine, was thrilled by this great
solidarity as caisses in Gaspésie and Iles-de-la-Madeleine have already
donated $100,000: "Mutual aid and sensitivity from our fellow citizens is not
just legendary, it's very real! With their participation and that of business
people in the area, we will contribute to rebuilding Rivière-au-Renard and
Cortéréal."
This aid backs the Red Cross fund-raising campaign that was recently
announced to support the victims' assistance program.
