Organization's (ILO) World Day Against Child Labour (June 12, 2008),
Toronto-based design firm, Creative Matters Inc., today announced it will
create and donate a one-of-a-kind hand-knotted luxury rug to RugMark, the
nonprofit Washington, D.C.-based foundation working to end child labour in the

The rug, entitled Hariti (Tibetan for "protectress of children"), which
is certified child-labour-free by RugMark, will be featured in this year's
annual RugMark raffle to raise money for the organization's mission. Creative
Matters will post progress reports and images on its web blog at
www.creativemattersinc.blogspot.com during the rug's two-month creation, and
raffle tickets will go on sale in early September.
"Both RugMark and the ILO are doing wonderful, tangible work to encourage
education over servitude for children in some of the world's poorest nations,"
say Creative Matters co-founders Donna Hastings and Carol Sebert.
RugMark is a nonprofit organization working to end exploitative child
labour in the carpet industry and offer educational opportunities to children
in India, Nepal and Pakistan. The RugMark(R) label offers the best assurance
that no illegal child labour was used in the manufacture of a carpet or rug.
