Deployment of Armoured Squadron to Afghanistan Delayed



    VALCARTIER GARRISON, QC, Feb. 19 /CNW Telbec/ - Considering the bad
weather that prevails in the Quebec City region and for logistical reasons,
the departure of about forty soldiers from Valcartier for Afghanistan that was
scheduled today has been delayed.
    At the time of issue of this news release, it is anticipated that the
troops of D Squadron of 12e Régiment blindé du Canada will leave on February
20 for Afghanistan. This new flight plan should only be confirmed tomorrow
morning.
    Troops from D Squadron will gradually be integrated into Joint Task Force
Afghanistan (JTF-Afg), Operation ATHENA Rotation 5, for a mission that will
take place from February to September 2008.
