DEP Signs Subcontracting Agreement with Its CD-DVD Manufacturer Zanin

    MONTREAL, June 5 /CNW Telbec/ - After 11 years in existence, Quebec-based
distribution company DEP is ending a record year of growth. Backed by its
association with Universal Music Canada, DEP quickly adjusted to the market
changes to develop an outstanding digital distribution service for all of its
distributed labels.
Aware that it must also remain efficient and competitive in its physical
media operations at a time in which the music industry is facing several
difficult challenges, DEP has decided to subcontract its existing physical
distribution operations in Quebec. This approach has been successfully adopted
by all Canadian multinationals a number of years ago.
As such, DEP signed a subcontracting agreement with ZEI DISTRIBUTION (a
division of Zanin), its main manufacturer for the last three years, to manage
its storage and shipping. Zanin, a Quebec-based company located in
Saint-Laurent, has facilities of more than 110,000 square feet in total. This
new structure will be operational by July 16, 2007. The entire DEP team is
confident that this new agreement will greatly increase the efficiency of its
shipping and handling, to the benefit of all of its distributed labels and
retailers. Maurice Courtois, DEP's president and founder, is very
enthusiastic:
"This agreement will allow the entire DEP team to concentrate more
internally on the creative aspect of its services, while being assured of
exceptional and highly professional physical distribution, thanks to Zanin's
competence."
According to Joseph Lemme, president of Zanin CD/DVD, the opportunity was
very interesting:
"We are very proud of this agreement with DEP as it allows us to offer,
among other things, 100% of our services to our clients, including
manufacturing and paper printing, while maximizing our quick distribution
possibilities on the entire Quebec market. Zanin CD/DVD will thus become one
of the largest manufacturers and distributors of media products in Quebec and
Canada."
It is important to note that as part of this agreement, all of DEP's
warehouse employees were invited to join the Zanin team. This way they can
continue to capably serve the company and its partners while keeping their
job. Also, DEP will have at least three administrative employees at Zanin at
all times to ensure perfect communication between the two partners. In an
industry that is constantly shaking up business models, DEP remains attentive
to the market's every need.
