Delta Hotels and Resorts holds "bed-in" on downtown Toronto street in support of Habitat for Humanity

Delta employees' 21-hour sleepover to call attention to the need for
    affordable housing

    TORONTO, June 25 /CNW/ - Starting at 9 p.m. on Monday, June 29, Hank
Stackhouse, President and CEO of Delta Hotels and Resorts, and Stewart
Hardacre, President and COO, Habitat for Humanity Canada will spend the night
with two Delta employees - Brianna LePiane of Vancouver and Emily Rayburn of
Guelph - in a Plexiglas "house" at the corner of King Street and University
Avenue to raise awareness of the need for affordable and safe housing. LePiane
and Rayburn will continue the bed-in for a full 21 hours in the Plexiglas
"house".
The bed-in will mark the Toronto stop on the Delta Community Cruiser
Tour, a cross-Canada journey undertaken by Delta employees this June and July.
The tour will visit 33 communities and travel 11,000 kilometres, stopping to
participate in charitable events hosted by local Delta properties.
To kick off the bed-in, the sleepover team will build their bunk beds
onsite - materials used to build the beds will be recycled into Habitat homes
after the event.
On Tuesday, June 30th, following the sleepover, a public barbeque
fundraiser will be hosted by the Delta Chelsea Hotel and Delta's head office.
The barbeque will be held outside the Plexiglas house starting at 11:30 a.m.
with all proceeds benefiting Habitat for Humanity Toronto.
Habitat for Humanity Canada is the national charitable partner of Delta
Hotels and Resorts, and this partnership is an important part of the company's
ongoing commitment to building stronger communities across Canada.
The new 2010 Toyota Prius is the official car of the Delta Community
Cruiser Tour.
