New Datacolor MATCH AFX(TM) Represents a Technological Breakthrough,
Drastically Reducing Time and Costs for Developing Coatings and Stains for
TORONTO, October 3 /CNW/ - Datacolor, the global leader in color
management technology for over 35 years, will showcase its new Datacolor MATCH
AFX(TM) solution for the first time at the International Coatings Expo (ICE)
beginning today in Toronto.
Designed to address the needs of coating manufacturers and suppliers,
Datacolor MATCH AFX significantly reduces color development time and cost.
Quickly delivering color formulas for pigmented wood stains, the package
easily integrates into any paint shop or laboratory with automated links to
paint and colorant dispensers.
Demonstrations will be available at Datacolor's booth #602 at ICE.
Attendees will have the ability to see and learn more about all of Datacolor's
industry-leading color matching and management solutions at the show.
Datacolor MATCH AFX uses precise measurements and new mathematical models
of wood and pigment behavior to deliver better first recipe matching for
pigmented and translucent wood stains. This novel product uses measurements of
color examples to learn characteristics of different wood species, accurately
predicting their effects on final color. Datacolor MATCH AFX continues to
learn with each successive use, increasing its effectiveness and refining
color formula predictions.
Datacolor's award-winning color scientists have leveraged this
revolutionary mathematical model to significantly reduce preparation work
while providing greater accuracy and process efficiency. Using this
technology, the number of samples needed to identify and match color on a type
of wood is reduced by up to 80 percent, saving time and resources.
"The Datacolor MATCH AFX solution is a real breakthrough for the coatings
industry. Isolating substrate characteristics that affect pigment color and
appearance with so few samples brings scientific accuracy to what is now a
trial and error process," said Kenny Thomas, industrial product manager for
pigment color solutions with Datacolor. "We've combined unique precision
technology with our renowned color science expertise to ensure the most
accurate and efficient color matching solution available for pigmented stains
on different types of wood."
Datacolor MATCH AFX features:
-- "Multi-modal" technology - adaptively selects and combines the best
features of single-, two-, multi- and many-flux color models -- matches
transparent, translucent, transmitted and opaque color on any substrate, at
any pigment load, all from a single calibration set.
-- SmartMatch "Light Axis" technology - dramatically reduces the number
of samples required for system training - introduce new substrates quickly and
easily saving time and money.
-- Expanded SmartMatch technology - the system learns with each use,
adapting future color predictions and delivering more first shot matches than
-- Modeling by wood characteristics - new substrate samples can be
quickly assigned to an existing group, or new types of wood can be measured
and used directly for color matching. Axis SmartMatch technology takes care of
absorption and color effect of this new wood substrate. Users can benefit from
this technology to match directly without making additional mixtures.
