MONTREAL, Aug. 3 /CNW Telbec/ - Isabelle Hudon, Chair of the Board of
Directors of the Société du Havre de Montréal, is pleased to announce the
appointment to the Corporation's Board of two new members: Mr. Daniel
L'Africain and Mr. Erik Ryan.
"It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome Mr. L'Africain and Mr. Ryan,
who are both noted for their managerial skills and their understanding of
Montreal issues", said Ms Hudon, who is also President of Marketel.
Mr. Daniel L'Africain is a partner in the law firm of Joli-Coeur Lacasse,
specializing in commercial, banking, real estate and construction law. Having
developed an expertise in these areas of practice, he is called upon to
represent financial institutions, real estate promoters and managers, as well
as construction contractors. Until most recently, he was president of the
Chambre de commerce et d'industrie du Sud-Ouest de Montréal (CCISOM).
Mr. Erik Ryan is Senior Vice-President, Communications and External
Relations, of Rio Tinto Alcan. Before joining Alcan in 2002, he was Secretary
General of the 2002 Montreal Summit, where he led the planning and execution
of this founding event, created to identify the priorities and strategic
initiatives necessary for the development of the new City of Montreal. Prior
to that, he was a consultant for Monitor Company, a Boston consulting firm,
and political advisor to Gérald Tremblay, then the Minister of l'Industrie, du
Commerce et de la Technologie. M. Ryan was responsible at the time for the
design and implementation of the grappes industrielles strategy of industrial
clusters, as well as the negotiation of the Social Contract.
Mr. Erik Ryan has a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from McGill
University and a Masters in Administration from the Harvard Business School.
The mission of the Société du Havre de Montréal is to propose the major
elements in a concerted plan for the development of the harbourfront and the
urban areas around it, as well as an implementation structure and a financial
