LOS ANGELES, March 7 /CNW/ - Dan Fawcett has been named President of
Digital Media for Fox Entertainment Group (FEG), it was announced today by
Peter Chernin, President and Chief Operating Officer of News Corporation. The
appointment, effective immediately, marks a return to Fox for Mr. Fawcett who
spent the past three years as Executive Vice President of Programming and
Business & Legal Affairs for DIRECTV, the nation's leading satellite
television service provider.
In this new role, Mr. Fawcett will further the growth and evolution of
digital media strategy, including exploiting Fox content across all digital
platforms, pursuing long-term tactical initiatives with major technology
players and developing additional revenue streams for Fox product.

the past decade in structuring and negotiating successful distribution deals

Before joining DIRECTV three years ago, Mr. Fawcett served as Executive
Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs for Fox Cable Networks, where he
oversaw legal and business affairs for the division's more than 20 domestic
sports and entertainment cable networks, including Fox Sports Net and FX. He
was responsible for structuring and negotiating transactions for programming
rights, development, acquisition and production, and for content distribution
through cable, satellite and other media platforms.
While at DIRECTV, Mr. Fawcett was responsible for selecting and acquiring
all programming included on DIRECTV's US platform, for managing its overall
programming budget and for negotiating carriage terms with all third party
content providers, helping lead DIRECTV to record revenue and subscriber
growth. During his tenure, he negotiated the groundbreaking VOD deal with FEG
for pre-air broadcasts of prime time hits from FX a full 24-48 hours prior to
their initial broadcast.
Mr. Fawcett first joined Fox in Los Angeles in 1997 as Senior Vice
President of Business & Legal Affairs for Fox Sports Net. Prior to that, he
was Assistant GM and General Counsel of FSN Pittsburgh.
He received his BA from Tufts, his JD from the University of Pittsburgh,
and his MBA from Carnegie Mellon University.
