Dalai Lama to Give Special Teaching in Ann Arbor, Michigan



    ANN ARBOR, Mich., Dec. 10 /CNW/ -- On Saturday and Sunday, April 19 and
20, 2008, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama will visit Ann Arbor to teach
"Engaging Wisdom and Compassion" at Crisler Arena on the University of
Michigan campus.
    The two-day program (www.dalailamaannarbor.com) with two sessions April
19, and one session April 20, is jointly sponsored by Jewel Heart
(www.jewelheart.org), a Tibetan Buddhist Center headquartered here, The Tibet
Fund (www.tibetfund.org), and the Garrison Institute (www.garrison.org).
Tickets to all of the two-day teaching sessions are available from
Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com) beginning December 10, 2007, 5:00 p.m. ET.
The Toronto Jewel Heart Center serves many Ontario members.
    Also on April 20 at Crisler Arena, the Dalai Lama will present the
University of Michigan's Peter M. Wege Lecture on Sustainability, in
celebration of Earth Day. The Wege Lecture is free and open to the public but
tickets, available at the University of Michigan Union Ticket Office beginning
March 5, 2008 are required.
    The Dalai Lama is recognized worldwide for his compassion and tolerance,
his promotion of human rights and inter-religious understanding, peace through
non-violent conflict resolution and advocacy for the environment. Winner of
the 1989 Nobel Peace Prize, the Dalai Lama was the recent recipient of the
Congressional Gold Medal, the highest award Congress can give to civilians.
    Gelek Rimpoche, a distinguished Tibetan teacher, founder of Jewel Heart,
and author of best seller Good Life, Good Death, says of the Dalai Lama's

of a blue moon for spiritual practitioners of all disciplines." Jewel Heart,
