Dairy Farmers of Canada Welcomes New Cabinet

OTTAWA, Oct. 31 /CNW Telbec/ - Dairy Farmers of Canada welcomed the
reappointment of the Honourable Gerry Ritz as the Minister of Agriculture and
Agri-Food yesterday.
"On behalf of DFC, I congratulate Minister Ritz on his reappointment,"
said Jacques Laforge, President of Dairy Farmers in Canada. "We look forward
to meeting with him as soon as possible to continue the dialogue we've had
over the last two years to put in place a long-term vision of a strong,
sustainable Canadian dairy market from farmers to consumers. We want to keep
working to find solutions that will bring growth and profitability for
producers and processors."
DFC also welcomes the appointments of the Honourable Stockwell Day as
Minister of International Trade and the Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn as
Minister of State (Agriculture).
"We look forward to meeting with them in the coming weeks to discuss
issues related to the dairy industry, including bilateral and multilateral
trade talks. DFC continues to support the Canadian position at the World Trade
Organization as they (WTO talks) remain important for dairy farmers," said
Mr. Laforge.
