TORONTO, May 15 /CNW/ - As the 2008/2009 television season heads into the
last week of finales, CTV released today a report card looking back at the
most-watched programs on Canadian television - and for the first time in
years, two Canadian series have landed among the Top 20(*). CTV original series
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA (No.14) and FLASHPOINT (No.18) are among the
sixteen CTV programs dominating the Top 20. The season-to-date data also
reveals that, despite the ascendancy of new hits like FRINGE and THE
MENTALIST, last fall's premiere season of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA
remains the No.1 New Television Series of the season. Finally, a closer look
at the data reveals that CTV's primetime audience increased by nearly 3% over
the course of the past season.

"Canadian programming stood tall among the most-watched programs on
television in 2008/09," said Susanne Boyce, President, Creative, Content and
Channels, CTV Inc. "FLASHPOINT, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA, and
SPECTACLE became breakthrough hits. Meanwhile, CTV also welcomed this season's
other new hits to our schedule, FRINGE, THE MENTALIST and SOUTHLAND."

CTV's primetime average audience increased in 2008/09 (season-to-date) to
1.34 million, up 2.6% among total viewers compared to 2007/08 (1.306 million).
The increase comes as younger viewers flocked to CTV in the A18-34 demo, which
grew 7.6% this season. The growth resulted in CTV landing 13 of the Top 20
programs in this demo, up from 9 out of 20 in 2007/08. CBC ranked second
overall among total viewers with a primetime average audience of 713,000
(+0.8%) with Global following third with 680,000 (-3.8%).(xx)

The 2008/09 Top 20 saw six programs enter the ranking that were not there
last season, including SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA and FLASHPOINT along
with CTV's TWO AND A HALF MEN (No.13) and FRINGE (No.19). With the Top 10
chart remaining virtually unchanged from last season, CTV once again delivers
eight out of the Top 10 programs in Canada.
