CTV Gains Nationally and in Key Markets

       - CTV lands Top 20 increases in viewers and key demos -
    - CTV wins 15 out of 18 timeslots in primetime, Sunday-Friday -

TORONTO, Dec. 6 /CNW/ - As the fall season draws to a close, CTV has made
Top 20 gains both nationally and in Toronto and Vancouver compared to last
year, a 10-week ratings snapshot reveals. CTV not only has maintained its lock
on the Top 20, it has also landed more programs in the Top 20 this fall among
total viewers as well as the key selling demos A25-54 and A18-49, data from
BBM Nielsen Media Research confirms.
It's a healthy report card for Canada's Number 1 network heading into a
mid-season term bolstered by fresh new programming, blockbuster special events
and returning Top 10 hits, including last winter's most-watched series,
American Idol.(1)
"The strength of our schedule is a result of its diversity," said Susanne
Boyce, President, Creative, Content and Channels, CTV Inc. "Our Top 20 hits
are scripted and unscripted, breakout new programs and seasoned performers,
original and acquired."
With 16 out of 20 programs in the Top 20, CTV's strength this fall came
from established champs such as the CSI franchise (with 3 out of the Top 5
programs); second generation hits like Grey's Anatomy (No.2) and Criminal
Minds (No.7); and this fall's only new program to crack the Top 20, Private
Practice (No.18). Dancing with the Stars enjoyed its best season ever on CTV,
moving from No.15 to No.10, while The Amazing Race (No.9) is once again a Top
10 performer. Corner Gas (No.19) is the only original Canadian series to
appear in the Top 20 (see Addendum below).
