TORONTO, Sept. 2 /CNW/ - CTV announced today a deal with Rogers Cable
Communications Inc. that will allow viewers to never miss an episode of
Canada's most powerful television lineup. The strategic retention strategy
will see 17 hit CTV programs become available on a new, CTV-branded channel on
Rogers On Demand. Beginning today, the CTV content will be available to
consumers following their original television broadcast on Rogers Channel 100.
It's the first time that Rogers on Demand has featured CTV's primetime,
network programming. The deal provides an opportunity for CTV viewers to catch
up on last week's missed episode, before next week's new episode airs on CTV
or /A\. The service launches today on Rogers with last night's episode of SO
YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA.
CTV's Rogers on Demand channel is a strategically programmed mix
featuring Canada's No.1 drama series (GREY'S ANATOMY), No.1 reality program
(THE AMAZING RACE), No.1 new program of the year (SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE
CANADA), No.1 new drama (THE MENTALIST) and No.1 Canadian scripted series
(FLASHPOINT), all among a long list of Top 20 hits. The service also features
this fall's most-talked about new series, including THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, DR.
OZ and THE BEAUTIFUL LIFE, as well as late-night's No.1 comedy power hour, THE
DAILY SHOW and THE COLBERT REPORT.
"This catch-up initiative is clearly focused on allowing our viewers to
stay up to speed with their favourite programs," said Mike Cosentino, Senior
Vice-President, Program Scheduling, CTV Networks. "Almost all of the programs
we've targeted for the service are serialized, which are often challenging to
keep up with in today's busy world."
"We want our customers to enjoy a personal TV experience that allows them
to catch-up on their favourite CTV programs, whenever they want. On Demand is
a service unique to Rogers whereby our Digital Cable customers can enjoy
anytime of the day," said David Purdy, Vice President, Video Product
Management, Rogers Cable. "We are thrilled to add CTV's primetime line up to
Rogers On Demand bringing our customers more choice and even more titles, with
a library that now includes over 4,500 hours of programming."
