Crisis in Kenya - Four leading aid organizations appeal to Canadians for support

First person accounts and interviews available

OTTAWA, Jan. 31 /CNW/ - Four of Canada's leading relief organizations are
launching an appeal today to respond to the humanitarian crisis in Kenya.
CARE Canada, Oxfam Canada, Oxfam-Québec, and Save the Children Canada are
appealing to Canadians to support their emergency relief efforts in the East
African nation through a single mechanism called THE HUMANITARIAN COALITION
(www.thehumanitariancoalition.ca).
While 500,000 people are affected, it is estimated that instability has
displaced more than 250,000.
Through a single toll-free number, donations will be allocated to where
they will be most effective. Canadians are asked to donate to THE HUMANITARIAN
COALITION by calling 1-800-464-9154 or logging onto
www.thehumanitariancoalition.ca

HUMANITARIAN COALITION has members on the ground available for interviews
in addition, to a member who has recently returned from the emergency
response.
