TORONTO, Oct. 4 /CNW/ - Enter the cut-throat world of tabloid journalism,
where writers will go to any length to get the scoop to satisfy the hunger of
a celebrity-obsessed culture, in Dirt, making its Canadian debut Fridays at
10pm ET/7pm PT beginning November 2 on Bravo!. Starring Courteney Cox, Dirt is
an edgy drama that exposes the truth behind the façade of show business image
making, and reveals the lives of those determined to do so.
Lucy Spiller (Courteney Cox) is the ruthless, powerful, editor-in-chief
of celebrity tabloid magazines Drrt and Now. A genius in the art of
manipulation, Lucy possesses a maniacal dedication to exposing the truth about
Hollywood's luminaries. Lucy's life is her work and when it comes to
uncovering the dirt, she knows no limits. But she comes to learn that the
truth is never black and white, and that every action has a consequence. As
schizophrenic photographer Don Konkey (Ian Hart, Harry Potter and the
Sorcerer's Stone) provides exclusive, shocking pictures of the rich and famous
for Lucy's magazines, the glossy, perfect veneer created by Hollywood is
shattered - and available on newsstands every week.
The cast of characters is rounded out with Brent Barrow (Jeffrey
Nordling, Once and Again), the magazines' publisher, who is frequently at odds
with Lucy; Lucy's promiscuous younger brother, Leo Spiller (Will McCormack,
Syriana), whose private life intersects with his sister's magazine; Julia
Mallory (Laura Allen, The 4400), a beloved A-list movie and television star
whose recreational drug habit spins out of control; and Holt McLaren (Josh
Stewart, Third Watch), a struggling actor who will stop at nothing to regain
his star status.
Dirt was created and is executive produced by Matthew Carnahan, who
directs and writes several episodes. Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Joel
Fields are executive producers. FX Touchstone Television and Coquette
Productions co-produce the series.
