VALCARTIER GARRISON, QC, Sept. 18 /CNW Telbec/ - The military funeral for Corporal Jean-François Drouin, deceased on September 6, 2009, in Afghanistan, will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 10:30 a.m., in Saint-Louis-de-Courville Church, located in the Beauport borough, in Quebec City.
There will be no visitation. However, family will receive condolences at the church between 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
Corporal Jean-François Drouin died on September 6, 2009 due to the explosion of an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan. Born in the Quebec City area, Corporal Drouin joined the Canadian Forces on August 16, 2006. At the age of 31, Jean-François was serving with 5 Combat Engineer Regiment based in Valcartier. Dispatched on his first tour to Afghanistan, he left the country in April 2009 to fill a combat engineer position.

Members of Corporal Drouin's family want to go through their mourning in privacy. They wish that media representatives respect their choice of not according interviews. Media will therefore not be granted access to the chapel, neither the funeral home, nor the cemetery.
