Con-Force Project Recognized by American Institute of Architects

Armtec's Division Supplies Innovative Precast Concrete Solutions

    Toronto Stock Exchange: ARF.UN

GUELPH, ON, Dec. 3 /CNW/ - Armtec Infrastructure Income Fund (TSX:
ARF.UN) today announced that its Con-Force Division was part of the
award-winning project team on the Seattle Art Museum's Olympic Sculpture Park
project recognized by the American Institute of Architects in Seattle.
At the Institute's awards ceremony held November 6, 2007, the
architectural firm of Weiss/Manfredi earned the Institute's prestigious Honor
Award in recognition of their work on Seattle's Olympic Structure Park and
their use of simple raw materials, such as concrete, rendering them in new and
interesting ways. The Park is a nine-acre outdoor sculpture park that features
a 2,500-foot descending, Z-shaped path connecting the Bell town neighbourhood
in downtown Seattle with a beach on the waterfront.
"At the Olympic Sculpture Park, we used 305 precast concrete panels in
the retaining walls, but each panel has a different dimension," said architect
Michael Manfredi, Partner, Weiss/Manfredi. "Con-Force developed a form that
could be used for all of them, providing us with an innovative solution using
highly sophisticated fabrication technologies that you don't normally see in
landscape projects."
"Con-Force is the market leader in precast and pre-stressed concrete
manufacturing in Western Canada," said Charles Phillips, President and CEO of
Armtec. "Their contribution to the success of the Olympic Structure Park
further reinforces the Division's well earned reputation for creating quality
engineered solutions that meet the needs of clients."
With approximately 40 in-house engineers and drafts people, and three
large-scale, specialized production facilities in British Columbia, Alberta
and Manitoba, Armtec's Con-Force Division is able to serve large
infrastructure projects requiring specialized engineered solutions, and will
add greater depth to the Fund's strength and presence in growing markets in
Western Canada.
