EDMONTON, Sept. 22 /CNW/ - Commercial and professional painters in
Edmonton, Calgary and surrounding areas are invited to bring in their old,
unwanted and waste paints for recycling. The "Commercial Paint Roundup" is
being held from September 23rd to 25th in order to provide professional
painters a convenient method of disposing of their leftover paints in an
environmentally responsible manner. The Roundup is a result of cooperative
efforts by Alberta Recycling, the City of Calgary and the City of Edmonton to
ensure both the public and commercial sector benefit from Alberta's paint
"The backlog of paint from professional painters is quite substantial,"
states Doug Wright, CEO of Alberta Recycling. "There was a need to address
this specific problem in a proactive manner." The solution is a 3 day
commercial paint roundup that will allow painters to bring in large quantities
of eligible paints - latex, alkyd (oil), stains, and aerosols - for recycling
at no charge. The paint will then be properly processed by companies certified
under Alberta's paint recycling program.
The roundup is at 2 locations:
The City of Edmonton Waste Management Centre, 13111 Meridian St. NE by
the Cloverbar landfill, and Calibre Environmental Ltd 6224 - 29 Street SE in
Calgary. The event will run from Tuesday, September 23 to Thursday, September
25 from 8 AM to 4 PM at both locations.
A complete list of eligible, and ineligible paints accepted for recycling
is available on the Alberta Recycling website: www.albertarecylcing.ca. For
