Coca-Cola Launches 'Pemberton' Marketing Campaign In Canada



    
    International campaign celebrates the taste and heritage of the world's
    favourite soft drink
    

    TORONTO, Aug. 22 /CNW/ - Coca-Cola Canada has launched its 'Pemberton'
marketing campaign in Canada. Pemberton is an international advertising
initiative that celebrates the unique heritage of Coca-Cola and communicates
key information about the product and its famed secret formula, including the
fact that it never has had added preservatives or artificial flavours since
its creation in 1886.
    The Canadian advertising was developed in Canada based on a global
campaign created by Argentinean agency Santo. It is the first campaign of its
kind by Coca-Cola to remind a new generation of Coke drinkers about both the
creation and heritage of Coke and its ingredient profile.
    "Canadian consumers are very familiar with Coke and its great taste. In
our new campaign, we are focusing on what makes that unique taste profile --
six basic ingredients with no added preservatives or artificial flavours,"
said Jeff Shinozaki, Group Director, Brands, Coca-Cola Canada. "While we will
continue to celebrate 'The Coke Side of Life', we also want to educate
consumers about the product and remind them of its iconic heritage. We're not
giving away our secret formula, but we are giving consumers a closer look
inside the bottle."
    The marketing campaign, named for John Pemberton who created Coca-Cola,
will run in Canada in television, print, online and outdoor advertising.
Television executions started this month and will be reflected at
point-of-sale and through promotions. (The English television spot can be

    Coca-Cola is made from six ingredients: carbonated water; sugar for
sweetness; caffeine; phosphoric acid to provide tartness; caramel for colour;
and natural flavourings (the heart of the famous secret formula.)
    "It's the same great original taste John Pemberton created in Atlanta in
1886 as a soda fountain drink," said Shinozaki. "There are very few products
that have that long, trusted heritage and we're happy to share more
information about it."
