and the Riverdale NetZero Project Team invite the public and the media to tour
the Riverdale NetZero home today in Edmonton.
This unique house is part CMHC's EQuilibrium Sustainable Housing
Initiative; bringing together the principles of occupant health and comfort,
energy efficiency, renewable energy production, resource and water
conservation, and reduced environmental impact. The Riverdale NetZero project
team is pleased to be 1 of only 12 EQuilibrium demonstration homes currently
Not only is this net zero project designed to produce as much energy as
it consumes on an annual basis, it is being built using resources and methods
that minimize its impact on the environment. Among other leading-edge
technologies, the home captures and utilizes solar power for all of its
electricity, space and water heating.
Nearing final stages of construction, the team is pleased to host an open
house. Tours of the home and explanations of the elements that make this
energy efficient house possible will be provided and visitors will have the
opportunity to view many of the specialized details in the home.
