TORONTO, Feb. 13 /CNW/ - Canadian Medical Discoveries Fund Inc. ("CMDF")
is saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Michèle Demers, a member of
CMDF's board of directors since 2006. Ms. Demers died on Tuesday, February 10,
2009, at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal following emergency surgery
for a brain aneurism the previous day. Ms. Demers was surrounded by her family
at the time of her passing.
Ms. Demers was the President of the Professional Institute of the Public
Service of Canada, the largest multi-professional union in Canada and the
sponsor of CMDF since its inception. Ms. Demers had been active in the union
for more than 30 years. She dedicated her professional life to the care of
others and was a passionate advocate for the rights of her members.
The board of directors is deeply saddened by the loss of their trusted
friend and colleague. CMDF was privileged to have had Ms. Demers serve as a
director on the board, and she will be dearly missed. The CMDF board offers
its deepest condolences to Michèle Demers' family and friends.
