Closing Ceremonies for the Ninth General Assembly of Coalitions for Cultural Diversity



    MONTREAL, March 15 /CNW Telbec/ - Media are invited to attend the closing
ceremonies for the Ninth General Assembly of the International Liaison
Committee of Coalitions for Cultural Diversity. During the ceremonies,
delegates will report on the conclusions of the two-day meeting, which will be
attended by representatives from the cultural sector of 32 countries. The
meeting will also mark the March 18 entry into force of the UNESCO convention
on the diversity of cultural expressions, which recognizes in international
law the distinctive nature of cultural goods and services, and affirms the
sovereign right of countries to apply cultural policies. Quebec Minister of
Culture and Communications Line Beauchamp will be a guest speaker at the
ceremonies, which will be immediately followed by a press conference.
