City of Waco Conducts Successful Electricity Auction on World Energy Exchange

Twenty-four month award made on City's contract

WORCESTER, MA, Aug. 19 /CNW/ - World Energy Solutions, Inc. (TSX: XWE)
today announced that the City of Waco, Texas conducted its first ever
electricity auction via the World Energy Exchange. The City awarded a 24 month
contract for 116,800,000 kwh, or 58,400,000 kwh annually. The auction was a
highly competitive event, culminating with a total of 63 bids.
"We've been wanting to try a reverse auction for some time, as we
believed the process could significantly benefit the City and, ultimately, our
taxpayers," said Danny Jackson, Administrative Engineer, City of Waco. "I
can't say enough about how great World Energy's people were throughout the
process. The market directors were extremely knowledgeable about the industry
and helped us make key decisions regarding structuring the auctions to ensure
we had significant supplier participation. We were particularly pleased that
World Energy was able to drum up supplier interest for the auction, even
though we used our own paper for awarding the contract."
Traditionally, organizations execute their electricity or gas supply
contract using the supplier's contract, which includes the terms and
conditions, transaction confirmation and other pertinent information. This is
referred to as the "supplier's paper." In most instances, suppliers will
execute a transaction exclusively on their paper, however the City of Waco
successfully awarded its electricity contract to Liberty Power using its own
paper, which is quite rare for the Texas market.
"World Energy is clearly a market leader in state and local government
energy procurement," said Phil Adams, President and COO, World Energy. "We're
pleased to welcome the City of Waco to our family of local government
customers, among them Monmouth County, NJ, and the cities of New Britain, CT,
Worcester, MA, Temple, TX, and recently, Springfield, MA, who saved over
$500,000 per year on the recent electricity auction we conducted for them in
June."
