City of Calgary chooses Web security solution from Bell

Contract is the latest ICT win for Bell in Western Canada

CALGARY, Alberta, Feb. 4 /CNW Telbec/ - Bell Canada today announced its
selection by the City of Calgary to implement an organization-wide,
multi-layered security solution that will enable the City to defend against
online threats such as spyware, keyloggers, viruses and hackers.
The URL monitoring and blocking solution will proactively block a wide
array of potential threats, including those from wireless and other new online
devices. The solution will also help boost productivity by preventing
time-consuming, non-business online practices.
"We look forward to working closely with Bell to deliver a more robust
and secure Internet experience that protects our staff and the citizens of
Calgary," said Terry Brow, Supervisor, Vendor Relations for the City of
Calgary.
Added Charles W. Brown, President of Bell, Western Region: "This solution
not only enables the City to meet its ongoing network security needs, it also
creates a safer and more productive online environment for employees overall."
Awarded after a competitive RFP process, the contract represents a
significant Information and Communications Technology (ICT) win for Bell in
Alberta. Bell already provides business solutions services to more than
700 customers in Western Canada and is Canada's leading provider of enterprise
and SMB business solutions nationwide.
"Our ICT business represents the major share of our service portfolio in
the West, now and going forward," said Mr. Brown. "This contract win is
further proof of the success of our ability to develop and deliver innovative,
market-leading business solutions."
