VANCOUVER, Nov. 29 /CNW/ - Citizens Bank of Canada welcomed a new chair
to its board of directors in November - Vancity CEO Tamara Vrooman.
Vrooman joined Vancity in September after an impressive rise through the
ranks of the government of BC's public service where she served most recently
as the province's deputy minister of Finance.
"Tamara does her homework. It's apparent that she understands our
business and has a keen sense and commitment to the values that govern
everything we do at Citizens Bank. We look forward to working with her," said
Jason Farris, chief executive officer, Citizens Bank.
The Citizens Bank board of directors is responsible for providing
stewardship and oversight of management and operations to the bank. In this
leadership role, Vrooman ensures the board performs its duties to the bank.
"Citizens Bank is at an interesting crossroads," Vrooman said. "Ten years
ago, it started in Vancouver as one of the first branchless banks in the
country. Since then, it has increased its national reach to the point where
more than 40 per cent of its members now live east of the Rockies. It's an
exciting time as the bank plans for future growth."
She joins seven other board members, including two who are also recent
additions as of June 2007: Doug Soo, dean of Continuing Studies at
Langara College; and Doug Brownridge, president, SherpaQuest Consulting.
Other board members include:
- Chris Dobrzanski, senior vice president, Risk Management and
- Jason Farris, chief executive officer, Citizens Bank of Canada
- The Honourable Senator Mobina Jaffer, lawyer, Dohm, Jaffer and Jera
- Alexandra Wilson, executive director, Co-operative Housing Federation
- Roger Woodward, past president, VISA Canada

we were the first and we're still the only bank with a clear ethical policy.
Corporate social responsibility is more than a catch-phrase, it's part of our
DNA. We're available 24/7 on the Internet, or on the phone through out
National Contact Centre, where we offer a broad range of financial products
