CIBC Redvers branch celebrates 100th anniversary

Donating $1500 to Redvers & District Community Health Foundation for
    improvements to palliative care unit

REDVERS, SK, June 12 /CNW/ - CIBC is celebrating its centenary in Redvers
today with an open house and door prizes throughout the day to show
appreciation to the residents of Redvers and District for their patronage over
the past 100 years. Clients can also relive the past by viewing a display of
banking memorabilia and heritage photos from years gone by.
To mark the anniversary, CIBC presented the Redvers & District Community
Health Foundation with a cheque today for $1500 towards improvements to the
palliative care unit at the Redvers Health Centre.
"Our goal has always been to provide the best support possible for our
palliative patients and their families," said Diana Hoff, Chair of the Redvers
and District Palliative Care Committee. "We have undergone a number of
fundraising ventures to furnish both the family room and two patient rooms in
a home-like, relaxing style. Many palliative patients from our community have
spent long days in these rooms, and we need them to be as comfortable as
possible. We are very grateful to the Redvers Branch of CIBC for their
generous donation, which will buy a fold-out bed to be put in one of the
palliative care patient rooms for family use. Thank you so much for supporting
our community in the delivery of palliative care services."
Mayor Omer Carriere said: "For 100 years, the Canadian Imperial Bank of
Commerce has provided services for Redvers and surrounding areas. During that
time, the bank and its employees have contributed to the development and
growth of our town, thus making it a real asset to our community. Therefore on
behalf of the Town of Redvers, I would like to express our heartfelt
congratulations on this, your 100th anniversary. I wish you continued success
for many years to come."
"It has been an honour and a privilege to provide financial services to
our clients since 1908," said Suzanne Fetaz, branch manager of CIBC Redvers
since 2000. "CIBC believes in giving back to the communities where we live and
work. We are proud of the role played by the bank and our employees in
supporting important community organizations that serve Redvers and the
surrounding district. We are pleased to make this donation today, which we
hope will enhance the quality of life for the terminally ill patients at the
Redvers Health Centre."
Back in November of 1908, the Bank of Hamilton opened its branch in
Redvers in a small building at the northeast corner of Broadway Street and
Railway Avenue. Fifteen years later, the branch becomes part of The Canadian
Bank of Commerce after The Commerce acquired the Bank of Hamilton in December
1923. It was re-branded to CIBC on June 1, 1961 when the Imperial Bank of
Canada and The Canadian Bank of Commerce merged to form the Canadian Imperial
Bank of Commerce. After 65 years in its original location, the branch moved
into a new building at the southwest corner of Broadway Street and Souris
Avenue in December 1973, where the branch remains to this day.
CIBC in Redvers also has been a supporter of other community
organizations, including the Redvers Health Centre - Capital Donation, Redvers
Activity Centre Foundation Inc., Redvers Recreation Board - Capital Donation,
Redvers Soccer, Redvers Minor Hockey, 4H Clubs, Redvers Music Festival,
Redvers Golf Club, and The Jean Ericksen Memorial Garden Project (Lilies).
