Charges related to Aurora waterfowl incident confirmed



    FORT MCMURRAY, AB, Feb. 9 /CNW/ - Syncrude was served today with charges
under Section 5.1 of the Migratory Birds Convention Act and Section 155 under
the Alberta Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act. These charges relate
to the incident involving waterfowl at the Aurora settling basin on April 28,
2008.
    Syncrude has cooperated with government officials throughout the
investigation and continues to treat the matter very seriously.

    The Syncrude Project is a joint venture operated by Syncrude Canada Ltd.
and owned by Canadian Oil Sands Limited, ConocoPhillips Oilsands Partnership
II, Imperial Oil Resources, Mocal Energy Limited, Murphy Oil Company Ltd.,
Nexen Oil Sands Partnership, and Petro-Canada Oil and Gas.
