Chapleau Resources Ltd. Confirms Receipt of Gold Assay Results for the Remaining 9 Holes at Nova Canaa. An Additional 3 Vein Structures Identified with Gold Mineralization.

    VANCOUVER, April 25 /CNW/ - Chapleau Resources Ltd. (CHI: TSX-V) has
received gold assay results for the remaining 9 of the 16 core holes drilled
at the Nova Canaa gold project. Assay results for the 9 holes, DDH08 to DDH16,
together with previous gold results and additional silver results for all
16 holes are summarized in Table 1 below. Two of the outstanding 9 holes were
drilled on vein structures in the Medeiros zone and 7 were drilled on the
Galopeira zone, approximately 9 km to the south.
    Previous gold assays for the first 7 holes in the Medeiros zone were
reported in the press release of January 19, 2007.
    The recent results of holes 8 to 16, confirm gold and/or silver
mineralization associated with an additional three shear-hosted vein
structures with mineralized intervals of between 0.5 m to 4.0 m at down-hole
depths of between 0.0 m and 174.0 m. The best intersection was in DDH16,
drilled 124.0 m to the southeast of DDH11 (1.0 m at 1.05 g/t Au from 173.0 m
to 174.0 m), which reported a 3.0 m interval of 1.67 g/t Au from 86.7 m to
89.7 m, and included 1.0 m at 4.38 g/t Au from 87.7 m to 88.7 m. Further gold
and/or silver mineralized zones were reported in DDH11, 13 and 14 (see
Table 1). DDH16, 11, 13 and 14 confirmed gold mineralization at depth below
the artisanal gold workings with silver enrichment in the upper 29.0 m.
Mineralized intervals include sheared, silicified granite/granodiorite and
quartz veinlets with pyrite and hematite varying from 2% to 25%.
    In summary, the phase one, 16 hole drill program (2,277.9 m) at Nova
Canaa was successful in confirming the following:

    
    -   Greater than 1.00 g/t Au and up to 50.10 g/t Au in intervals ranging
        between 0.5 m to 9.8 m in 10 of the 16 core holes.
    -   The potential for moderate to high grade gold mineralization related
        to shear-hosted vein structures within the granite/granodiorite host
        rocks in the Medeiros and Galopeira zones.
    -   Gold mineralization at surface and up to a vertical depth of 151.0 m
        (DDH 11) below the historic gold workings at Nova Canaa.
    -   Continuity of gold mineralization along strike of at least 3 of the
        9 mineralized structures. Current drilling suggests that the best
        mineralized structure is Jau 1 in the Medeiros zone with DDH01
        reporting 9.0 m at 2.17 g/t Au from 27.0 m to 36.0 m and DDH04,
        drilled 109.0 m to the southeast and along strike of DDH01, reporting
        9.8 m at 4.53 g/t Au from 72.0 m to 81.8 m.
    -   Near surface enrichment of silver to a maximum vertical depth of
        29.0 m as reported in holes DDH1, 10, 13, 14 and 16. The best silver
        intersection was 3.8 m at 49.06 g/t Ag from 0.0 m to 3.8 m in DDH10.

    Core holes were inclined at between 50 and 60 degrees with a maximum of
251.9 m core length. Core recovery for the mineralized intervals averaged 98%.
The estimated true widths of the mineralized intervals are approximately 85%
of the intersected widths in the holes.
    Drill cores for assaying were taken at a minimum of 0.4 m and a maximum
of 1.0 m intervals. All core samples (HQ diameter) were cut with a diamond saw
and one-half of the core placed in bags, numbered and sealed then sent via a
secure transport agency to the Company's main office in Cuiaba in Brazil for
shipping directly to the ALS Chemex laboratory in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The
core samples were then crushed down to better than 70% minus 2 mm, a split of
up to 250 g was taken and pulverized to better than 85% minus 75 microns. A
portion of the pulverized sample was taken and shipped to the ALS Chemex
Laboratory in Lima, Peru for analysis of gold by fire assay of a 30g sample
and an atomic absorption finish. Silver and additional thirty three elements
using aqua regia acid digestion were analyzed by Inductively Coupled
Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectroscopy ("ICP-AES"). As part of the Company's
QA/QC program duplicates, blanks and internationally recognized standards were
included in the sample batches to check on assay precision and accuracy. ALS
Chemex laboratory in Lima which is an ISO 9001: 2000-registered laboratory
also has a quality control program in place which includes standards and
duplicates.
