BOUCHERVILLE, QC, Oct. 24 /CNW Telbec/ - Sportscene Group Inc.
("Sportscene" or "the Company"; ticker symbol SPS.A, TSX Venture Exchange),
operator of La Cage aux Sports, announces the departure of François St-Pierre,
who has held the position of Executive Vice-President since January 2004. His
responsibilities, mainly as chief operating officer of the La Cage aux Sports
network and Sportscene Group overall activities, are being taken over by
President and Chief Executive Officer Jean Bédard, also Chairman of the Board
of the Company.
Furthermore, Jean Bédard announces the appointment of a new director:
René Vachon, C.A, Senior Vice-President, Corporate Development of Miranda
Technologies Ltd., a Canadian manufacturer specializing in products and
solutions related to the video market and a leader in digital technologies.
Mr. Vachon has been invited to sit on the Board to fill the positions of
director and member of the Audit Committee left vacant following the
retirement of Robert Normand at the beginning of 2008.
In business since 1984, Sportscene Group Inc. operates Quebec's leading
chain of sports-themed resto-bars: La Cage aux Sports. The chain comprises
48 "Cages", 33 of which are wholly or jointly owned by the Company, and 15 are
