Celebrities honour Hamilton, Halton and Niagara World Vision child sponsors

    HAMILTON, ON, Feb. 19 /CNW/ - Musical guests Michelle Wright, Krystaal
and local personalities Jesse Lumsden, Donna Skelly and Leanne Cater will
thank local World Vision child sponsors at Mohawk College's McIntyre Theatre
on Wednesday, February 20 during a special evening event.
    World Vision is inviting local child sponsors and their guests to an
evening of appreciation and entertainment. CHCH News' Donna Skelly, the New
Country 95.3's Leanne Cater and Hamilton Tiger-Cat Jesse Lumsden will share
experiences from their recent trip to El Salvador with World Vision. Cater
will introduce Veronica, a sponsored child whom they met in El Salvador who is
visiting Hamilton.
    Award-winning country artist Michelle Wright and African musical group
Krystaal will perform for the 1,000 child sponsors expected to attend the
event, which is part of World Vision's Hamilton-Halton-Niagara 2,600 Campaign
running from February 1 - March 15.
    The goal of the six-week campaign is to raise awareness among local
residents about issues affecting children in developing countries and to
encourage them to sponsor 2,600 children in need through World Vision by March
15th. Generous residents of the region already sponsor 22,361 children through
World Vision. Since the launch of the campaign on February 1, local residents
have sponsored an additional 533 children.
