Celebration of Science 2008: Le thé : science infuse - The Montréal Science Centre Foundation will be holding its next benefit gala on February 21, 2008

MONTREAL, Feb. 20 /CNW Telbec/ - The Montréal Science Centre Foundation
will be holding its next benefit gala on February 21, 2008. The honorary
chairs for the event will be the six innovative researchers who inspired the
Imagine! exhibition at the new Montréal Science Centre.
Alexandre Blais, Quantum physics; Sami Obaid, Molecular biology; Isabelle
Tremblay, Mechanical engineering, Aerospace; Bastien Llamas, Molecular
genetics; Alysia Garmulewicz, Climate change, Sustainable development; Owen
Rose, Green architecture
The evening will begin with cocktails drawing on this year's theme of
tea, as a team of ITHQ students will conduct culinary scientific
demonstrations modelled on those performed by Ferran Adria and his famous
Catalan restaurant El Bulli.
Next comes an unusual gourmet dinner, created for the occasion by
Cornellier Traiteur, where tea will be featured in all its different forms, in
every dish. The evening will wrap up with a tea lounge and a tour of Imagine!,
along with the six young scientists honoured in the exhibition.
For seven years now, the Celebration of Science gala has combined food,
scientific analysis and entertainment to earn itself a unique and exceptional
place among the city's main fund-raising events. The evening's originality
lies in the way it introduces guests to the many dimensions of scientific
gastronomy, all in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The Titans Award, a
tribute to the technological innovation of the year, is also presented at the
gala.

The Science Centre opened its all-new exhibition rooms on December 1 of
last year with the help of a $6.3 million contribution from the Foundation.
The new exhibitions, on the cutting edge of technology, are more fascinating
than ever and full of original experiences.

    Date: February 21, 6 p.m.
