TORONTO, Sept. 2 /CNW/ - MuchMusic brings you one of the biggest musical
events of the year when the 2008 Video Music Awards broadcast live this
Sunday, September 7, beginning with the red carpet show at 8 p.m. ET and the
VMAs at 9 p.m. ET.
mtvvma.ca is Canada's premier online VMAs destination. Go to the site now
to get the most up-to-date information on nominees, performers, and
presenters. The site delivers its own exclusive live Canadian red carpet show
beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET on September 7. Fans can even stream the VMAs in its
entirety right after the live broadcast on MuchMusic.
Die-hard VMAers also get a shot at winning $2,500 in music on iTunes and
an iPod touch by playing 25 Days of the VMAs. Hit up mtvvma.ca now to answer
daily trivia questions for a shot at this grand prize and more.
It seems like only yesterday when Madonna smooched Britney, MJ
accidentally crowned himself Greatest Living Artist, and Lil Kim wore
practically nothing on the red carpet. All the VMA fun and controversy return
for a 25th year, hosted by comedian/actor Russell Brand (Forgetting Sarah
Marshall), and performances by acts as diverse as virginal Britney and dirty
Christina.
Sultry, sexy Rihanna, pop phenoms Jonas Brothers, rapper Lil Wayne,
badass Kid Rock, controversial T.I., comeback kid Pink, and up and comers
Paramore rock the legendary Paramount Pictures studios lot in Los Angeles.
Presenters include Michael Phelps, Miley Cyrus, Lindsay Lohan,
Scarlett Johansson, Ciara, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale,
Kristen Stewart, and more. DJ AM and Travis Barker collaborate with
Katy Perry, T-Pain, Lupe Fiasco, and others to perform hits of the present and
past to celebrate the last 25 years of music. Additional performers and
presenters will be announced soon.
Arguably, the biggest award of the night, Video of the Year features
nominees Chris Brown (Forever), Jonas Brothers (Burnin Up), Pussycat Dolls
(When I Grow Up), Britney Spears (Piece of Me), and The Ting Tings (Shut Up
and Let Me Go). For a complete list of nominees, go to mtvvma.ca.
