TORONTO, Nov. 21 /CNW/ - The CFL ON CBC continues its longstanding
reputation for excellence in Grey Cup broadcasting with exclusive wall-to-wall
coverage of the 95th Grey Cup Championship, in High Definition, Sunday,
Nov. 25, at Rogers Centre in Toronto, including special features; live and
on-demand streaming of the big game, for the first time ever, at cbcsports.ca;
the return of the Cablecam - a cable-supported overhead camera providing a
unique aerial view of the action on the field; and special performances by
Lenny Kravitz and Sloan, as well as the world premiere of The Trews' brand new
single, "Hold Me in Your Arms."
CBC Sports kicks off the week leading up to the 95th Grey Cup
Championship by broadcasting highlights of Grey Cup Championship games from
the past five decades. The Grey Cup Classics continue every evening at
12 midnight local through to Friday, Nov. 23. (See full broadcast schedule
below).
On Saturday, Nov. 24, at 2:30 p.m. ET, the CFL ON CBC preps fans for the
95th Grey Cup Championship with Grey Cup Saturday. Walby's Warriors X
presented by GMC Sierra will also be part of the afternoon broadcast, as
former Blue Bomber all-star offensive lineman and CFL Hall of Famer Chris
Walby, alongside CBC's Mark Lee, continue an important 10-year Canadian
football tradition, presenting Walby's Warriors for 2007. Walby's definition
of a warrior is a player that stands out among his CFL peers for heart,
determination, leadership and mental toughness. Walby's Warriors X presented
by GMC Sierra will feature the highly anticipated announcement of the 'Warrior
of the Year', who will receive the keys to an all-new 2008 GMC Sierra. The
excitement continues at 5:30 p.m. ET, as host Elliotte Friedman and panelists
Greg Frers, Khari Jones and Daved Benefield provide the latest breaking news
on the Grey Cup matchup from the outdoor CBC studio on Front Street in Toronto
with Grey Cup Preview.
On Sunday, Nov. 25, at 3:30 p.m. ET, the CFL ON CBC counts down to the
95th Grey Cup Championship in perfect Canadian football fashion with Grey Cup
Sunday. Host Elliotte Friedman and panellists Greg Frers, Khari Jones and
Daved Benefield will once again be at the centre of the action on Front Street
in downtown Toronto, providing game day analysis, features and interviews,
while Canadian rockers Sloan kick off the afternoon with a special live
performance. Grey Cup Sunday will also feature the world premiere of the new
single from one of Canada's hottest rock bands, The Trews. "Hold Me In Your
Arms" is the first single from The Trews new album called No Time for Later,
which is scheduled to be released in early 2008.
The hard-hitting action continues during Grey Cup Sunday, as the CFL's
toughest players from past and present reveal how they use intimidation to win
football games, and try to answer the question: when is dirty play really just
hard-nosed football? Grey Cup Sunday will also take a celebratory look at the
past 55 years of the CFL ON CBC and the Grey Cup on CBC. Past announcers will
discuss some of their most memorable moments, including Norm Marshall (who
called the first Grey Cup for CBC), Don Chevrier and Ernie Afaganis.
At 5:30 p.m. ET, all eyes will be on Rogers Centre as the CFL ON CBC
raises the curtain on the highly anticipated 95th Grey Cup Championship
(available in HD). CBC's coverage includes more than 19 cameras - which will
capture every angle and every moment of action - including the innovative
Cablecam, a cable-supported overhead camera providing an aerial view of the
action on the field. This unique technology allows for unparalleled access to
plays as they unfold, putting viewers on the field and in the game.
Play-by-play man Mark Lee and analyst Chris Walby hit the broadcast booth
to call the game, while Khari Jones provides special analysis from field
level. Brenda Irving and Steve Armitage will also be on the sidelines,
providing reports from the East and West benches. The CFL ON CBC panel -
Friedman, Frers and Benefield and Jones - return at halftime for analysis and
updates. The 95th Grey Cup Championship broadcast will also feature four-time
Grammy Award-winner Lenny Kravitz, who will entertain viewers during the
halftime show.

fans, providing a red-hot weekend lineup that does not end with the Grey Cup.
