CAW to meet today with top GM officials to resolve truck plant dispute

TORONTO, June 17 /CNW/ - CAW President Buzz Hargrove will meet with top
General Motors officials, including Dean Munger, executive director of labour
relations for GM North America this afternoon at 1 p.m.
Hargrove will be joined by CAW Local 222 President Chris Buckley, GM
Plant Chair Keith Osborne and Truck Plant Chair Greg Moffatt in an effort to
resolve the ongoing dispute regarding the closure of the truck plant.
The meeting comes a day after Local 222 removed a two week long blockade
from GM's Canadian headquarters in Oshawa after a court injunction.
GM gave notice on June 3 it would be closing the truck plant in 2009 - an
announcement which came only two weeks after signing a collective agreement
with the union that guaranteed continued production at the plant well into
2015.
Buzz Hargrove, CAW Local 222 President Chris Buckley and Local 222
leadership will be available for comment before and after the meeting.

    Today: 1 p.m.
205 Placer Court (Don Valley Parkway, Finch Exit)
    Toronto, ON
