CAW Reaches Tentative Agreements Covering St. Lawrence Seaway

ST. CATHARINES, ON, Oct. 14 /CNW/ - St. Lawrence Seaway Management
Corporation and its supervisory, operations, maintenance and headquarters
workers represented by the CAW in Ontario and Quebec have reached tentative
agreement on three new collective agreements with the Corporation.
As a result of these tentative agreements reached Thanksgiving Day, no
labour dispute will occur on the St. Lawrence Seaway system at this time.
Ratification of the agreements will be scheduled over the next 10 days
and results of the ratification votes will be announced after all locals have
voted.
Members of the CAW-TCA bargaining committees involved in the negotiations
are unanimous in recommending their membership accept the new agreements and
are very pleased that a disruption to work and shipping on the Seaway was
avoided.
Details outlining improvements to current contracts will be made public
once the information has been communicated to CAW-TCA union members.
    CAW Locals 4211, 4212, 4319, 4320 and 4324 represent 475 St. Lawrence
Seaway workers.
