Caught Again: Horwath Shreds Pre-election Ad Ban Pledge

NDP radio ads in Northern Ontario break Horwath's Personal Commitment

TORONTO, Sept. 3, 2011 /CNW/ -

NEWS

For the second time in just three days, Andrea Horwath broke faith on her personal commitment to ban pre-election political advertising.

New radio ads featuring Horwath's own voice are running today in Northern Ontario (CJTT-FM in New Liskeard).  These ads join a pre-election television ad released by the NDP Thursday.

Horwath promised two weeks ago to ban pre-election advertising:

"I'd impose a blackout on political advertising before elections...for political parties, and for interest groups."
(Andrea Horwath, August 19, 2011)

On Thursday, Horwath's Communications Director Jen Hassum vehemently denied the release of the NDP's television ads constituted a breaking of Horwath's personal pledge.  (Jen Hassum Tweet, September 1, 2011).  What will the NDP say now that they have been caught a second time?
